Course Outline

Year One

Students will attend ten lecture and revision sessions covering:

• Managing people
• Corporate control and administration

Year Two

A similar study pattern to year one will cover:

• Strategic operations and management
• Corporate governance

Course Objectives

The Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies (PG Cert) is a two-year course aimed at recent graduates working in the public and business sectors. Students will study four units from a combination of modules available via the MSc in Corporate Governance and the MSc Management with HR.

The aim is to provide students with a secure foundation in the concepts and practice of management and leadership in the context of the changing nature of work and business in the international arena.

Face-to-face tuition is delivered across four modules at the GTA University Centre by tutors from Bournemouth University. Lectures will take place on a Friday or Saturday on average every 3 or 4 weeks at ten time per annum and students will be assessed through 100% course work, requiring no more than a total of 4,000 words.

Successful completion of the PG Cert in Professional Studies will provide students with a qualification in its own right as well as providing the basis for further study.

Target Audience / Entry Requirements

The principal entry requirement is a UK degree. However, those applicants who studied at a university outside the UK, or have a professional qualification which is equivalent to a UK degree may be eligible.
