What is the GTA University Centre?
The GTA University Centre is a unique organisation which serves the Bailiwick of Guernsey through the procurement, facilitation and promotion of high quality training to all sectors of the community.
Providing a focus for education and training essential to both career and personal development, the GTA's uniqueness lies in its role as a procurer and facilitator rather than as a provider. The benefits of this unusual philosophy are two-fold. Firstly, the Agency has a direct and close involvement with its stakeholders. Secondly, it enables us to respond at a speed critical to the success of Guernsey as the pace of economic change accelerates.
In July 2006 the GTA was awarded university centre status by Bournemouth University. Islanders can study a range of new postgraduate courses taught locally by university tutors. Candidates are considered to be Bournemouth University students and they will receive on-island tutoring of courses relevant to the economic development of Guernsey.
The GTA provides short courses, professional and postgraduate programmes. Some of the courses available include the MBA, MSc in Corporate Governance and a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property.
The GTA offers a wide range of successful educational and continuing professional development programmes for the Bailiwick of Guernsey and in so doing it makes a unique contribution to the provision of education and professional training for the people and the economy of the Bailiwick.
The GTA maintains its links with a number of other UK universities, including Southampton, Plymouth and the London Business School.
