Short Courses - General
Guernsey's Digital Map

Course Objectives

SEMINAR OVERVIEW:

The States of Guernsey Mapping is now widely used within the Government and by the private sector and utilities. Key to the success of the project has been the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Digimap will explain what GIS is and how it works.

Interesting recent projects have been the new Tax on Real Property, the provision of Cadastre data to the Parishes and the Corporate Address File.

Digimap will show how the mapping can be integrated into corporate systems together with the future of GIS systems. This ranges from the move to more powerful Internet and Intranet based mapping to the provision of mashups with Google Maps.

The seminar promises to be highly visual, interesting and thought provoking.
