Values Based Leadership

Course Outline

"Leaders who take the time to understand the personal values of each team member, will also appreciate their individual goals and ambitions thus giving the leader a greater sensitivity to their level of motivation.
Such awareness can assist leaders to secure an employee's commitment to the organisation's goals and values".

  • Effective leadership must be based on sensitivity to and an understanding of culture. By being aware of the values of the organisation, excellent leaders are able to take action to mould and refine those values when necessary.
  • Excellent leaders are fully aware of their personal values and recognise that these will drive their own behaviour. They know that others will be observing what they do and realise that through their own actions, they must demonstrate a genuine commitment to the company's culture and ethos.

Course Objectives

  • Gain awareness of the importance of treating every employee as an individual
  • Gain insight into the impact of individuals' personal values and goals
  • Understand what influences motivation and engagement within an organisation
  • Appreciate how your sensitivity can improve working relationships and generate enhanced team performance.

Target Audience / Entry Requirements

Leaders and senior managers with genuine ‘people leadership' responsibilities within their organisations and with the ability to shape the behavioural characteristics within their business, either by interpreting a set of corporate values which have been defined by the parent company, or by developing locally a set of values which will identify and describe the corporate culture.
