About Us

Our History

The GTA University Centre was opened in November 1996 and marked the culmination of a remarkable combined effort between the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the States of Guernsey to invest in its most valuable asset – its workforce.

Since then, the GTA has earned an admirable reputation for providing a first-class learning and resource centre, as well as facilitating top quality training and development programmes. UK universities delivering higher education programmes, and specialist training providers are commissioned to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of technical and soft skills short courses, meaning that more than 7,000 delegates have been able to attend programmes at the GTA since its inception. This is a considerable achievement for such a small institution.

In 2006 the GTA was accredited as a University Centre of Bournemouth University. This award was the culmination of much hard work and bench-marked the organisation in terms of its infrastructure and support it gives its students.

Every three years the GTA hosts a Presentation and Awards ceremony to celebrate the success and achievements of our graduates, who through their hard work and dedication have equipped themselves to play their part in the future success of the island community, its business and economy.
