Public Lectures and Events
Our aim is to upskill the island’s workforce by encouraging lifelong learning and development, which can be difficult for people to do in today’s time-pressured world. We hope that offering ‘out of hours’ learning opportunities will appeal to people as a way to continue their personal development.
One way of doing this is to host seminars and lectures live-streamed from outside the island into the GTA training centre in Sausmarez Street, St. Peter Port.
We work with Southampton University Business School and The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) to play live video and audio coverage of their lectures and seminars. The events cover a wide range of topics and are led by expert speakers in their field. The Southampton Business School seminars are in the evening and are typically two-hours long. The RSA lectures are at lunchtime and last for one-hour.
Following the live-stream coverage, a local guest speaker chairs a discussion on the topic at a local level. These events are open to the public and are free to attend. Refreshments are provided.
