How to Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence Efficiently: from Open Source to Human Intelligence

Course Summary

This course is intended to provide OSINT tools and knowledge above and beyond compliance checks to help you fine tune your due diligence skills, whether you are working in finance or any other profession which requires such skills. The course will then provide an overview and scenarios of cases which require human source intelligence in addition to open source research.

Topics

  • Compliance vs open source research
  • Open Source Research: From fundamentals to a more sophisticated approach
  • Effective tools: Gathering and analysing data
  • Automated responses through cyber security
  • An Overview of Human Source Intelligence: Why will it always be key?

Course Benefits

This training will give you an essential overview together with an understanding of what thorough enhanced due diligence entails.

In the first part of the session, we will explain how compliance searches should be complemented by efficient OSINT tools for targeting searches. We will review techniques to cross-reference a surplus of information which can at times be overwhelming and misleading.

Part of more sophisticated OSINT tools are automated responses such as deep and dark web searches and social network analysis that help identify and visualise risks.

However, there are gaps in OSINT research that need to be compensated through human source intelligence. This entails on-the-ground, specialised access to sources to provide a full picture of who you are dealing with.

The overall aim is to provide you with a more nuanced approach to risk through various angles of due diligence, with the ultimate objective of helping your business to secure more contracts and clients.
