Ten UK and Channel Island Industry Specialists took to the stage last month to update representatives of the local fiduciary industry about a wide variety of topics at the Annual STEP Guernsey Conference. Key areas included cybercrime, insolvency, insurance and trustees dealing with insurers. Local professionals in attendance updated their overall knowledge and understanding of these important industry issues and obtained 7 CPD points for their personal development.

Keynote speaker Helen Hatton from Sator Regulatory Consulting Jersey, addressed the topical subject of the Panama Papers and data leaks, explaining their impact on the island’s trust industry. Helen highlighted the issues regarding where the boundaries of privacy lie; this will be followed up in the next two issues of Business Brief magazine.

The speaker line-up also included Nigel Race who gave an update on STEP Worldwide's latest activities and kindly presented the prestigious student awards.

STEP Guernsey and Gold sponsor Carey Olsen were delighted with the turnout, with close to 200 delegates attending the conference this year. Other sponsors Smith & Williamson, Microgen Financial Services and the GTA University Centre also made a valuable contribution to the event.

As the STEP Conference continues to grow year after year, we anticipate more sponsors wanting to get involved in the future. This would encourage additional delegate interaction, networking and future partnerships. If your organisation would like to sponsor the 2017 event, we'd love to hear from you.
