This series aims to assist those in senior and director level positions keep up-to date with relevant issues and topics pertinent to Guernsey directors.
Each session will be presented by a respected business leader and there will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.
Registration is from 08:15 when refreshments and a light breakfast will be available.
The series can be booked at the preferential rate of £264 for the six sessions.

David Joel is a professionally qualified, Chartered Director. He is a qualified physicist with 20 years in the defence engineering and technology sectors and 10 years in the services and facilities management sector mostly at board level. David’s experience covers public sector, private sector and regulated companies. He has undertaken many board effectiveness reviews and has worked with the Institute of Directors delivering the ‘Finance for non-Financial Directors’ programme and the ‘Leadership’ programme for the certificate in company direction and was a lead facilitator for the Diploma in Company Direction for the Institute of Directors.
Emma Mauger, TEP,Dip (ITM), FICA, Int.dip (COMP), Int.dip (AML), Int.dip (FinCrime). Emma has over 20 years’ experience in the Guernsey financial sector and is one of only a handful of people worldwide to hold all three ICA Diplomas delivered via Manchester University: ICA International Diploma in Compliance, in Financial Crime Prevention and in Anti Money Laundering. In addition Emma is a fully qualified STEP member, a certified GDPR Practitioner and a member of the Institute of Directors.
Jean Pousson is one of the senior IoD consultants and covers finance, strategy and the Diploma programme. He is also a director of Board Evaluation Limited Jean previously held the position of Director of Studies at the TSB Group Management College before spending two years in the City of London with DC Gardner & Company (now Euromoney plc) as Assistant Director, Corporate Banking delivering training courses for banks on credit worldwide. His banking career at Barclays Bank spanned 15 years and within the last five years he occupied various management positions within retail and corporate banking. For the last 32 years, Jean has lectured and consulted on issues of strategic planning and implementation, credit risk and finance to an international client base consisting of financial services organisations, SME’s, multinationals, charities, housing associations, professional firms and public sector bodies. As well as maintaining his own client base (Jean Pousson and Associates was founded in 1994) he also speaks regularly at Vistage, the San Diego based, Chief Executive network which is the largest in the world, and to programmes run by The Chartered Institute of Credit Management. He was voted lecturer of the year in 2013 and 2018 for UK Finance the professional body of the Asset Finance Industry. In a typical year Jean will work with over 600 directors and about 8 to 10 Boards. He has a B.Comm degree from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), is a Chartered Member of The Institute of Bankers in South Africa(CAIBSA), received a distinction of the joint Barclays/University of Witwatersrand Senior Management Programme(a nine month long executive programme) and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from The University of Warwick(1996). He also holds the IoD’s Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction
Mel Torode has over 20 years' experience in the fund administration industry in Guernsey specifically including private equity, property and mezzanine debt. Mel is an Independent Non-Executive Director with a portfolio of listed and private fund clients and is a director and founder of the Advisory Services Group, an independent business providing compliance, risk and regulatory, company secretarial, corporate governance, consultancy and training services to the regulated financial services industry, as well as the wider business community, public sector and start-ups, in the Channel Islands.. During her career to date, Mel has worked at all levels of fund administration, from trainee to Managing Director, has founded, successfully grown and sold her own fund administration business, has worked in all sizes of company from 2 people to 100 people, has been part of owner-managed and large global operations and has established a varied portfolio of clients as a NED. Alongside administration, company secretarial and leadership positions, Mel has held roles as Compliance Officer and MLRO, as well as focusing consistently on corporate governance during her career.
Professor Paul Dorey CISM, FCIIS is a Guernseyman and Visiting Professor/Lecturer in Cyber Security at Royal Holloway College, University of London. In his career he has been Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Barclays, London Head of Information Security at Deutsche Bank Morgan Grenfell, Global CISO at both BP and GSK. He is active supporting businesses and governments in Cyber Security Strategy development and acts as an expert witness in civil and regulatory cases following cyber security breach.
Rollo de Sausmarez is Co-lead of The Chamber Of Commerce’s Sustainable Business Initiative, and leads the Sustainability Advisory arm of UN1TY.gg. He has Net-Zero and Sustainable Finance qualifications from the University of Cambridge and is certified Carbon Literate. UN1TY also runs the Channel Islands only sustainability course, officially accredited by the internationally recognised Carbon Literacy Project. Rollo has worked with a wide range of businesses to measure and manage their emissions develop Net-Zero strategy and provide advice on their business strategy through the lens of sustainability. Rollo and UN1TY were recently appointed the official validator of GIIA’s ESG framework.
