This half-day course is designed for Board Members and Senior Directors who need a clear, practical understanding of artificial intelligence and its impact on Governance, Strategy, Workforce and Risk.
It cuts through hype and technical jargon to focus on what boards actually need to know today.
Course Content
The course explains, in plain English, how AI tools, such as ChatGPT, custom AI assistants and emerging autonomous agents, are already being used within organisations, often informally, and why this creates new governance and oversight challenges.
Directors will explore how AI changes decision support, productivity, and risk exposure, and how boards should think about accountability when humans and machines work together, with strong emphasis on:
- Directors’ responsibilities
- Governance frameworks
- Human oversight
- Auditability
- Regulatory awareness
Live demonstrations will show how AI can be used to analyse board packs, review complex documents and surface risks, while reinforcing that AI supports judgement rather than replacing it.
The course will also provide a practical overview of GDPR, the EU AI Act and relevant UK guidance, framed specifically for boards operating in Guernsey and comparable regulated environments.
