Course Summary

PRINCE2 three day Foundation course is suitable for those requiring to understand how PRINCE2 provides a controlled approach to managing projects. The course is suitable for project managers, team managers, project support and assurance staff, and managers from any discipline. The course concludes with a one hour open book exam.

The PRINCE2® method is flexible and adaptable for any type and size of project, and offers an excellent project management foundation for any member of staff. Syllabus for PRINCE2® was updated in 2017, this was the first major update to PRINCE2 since 2009. As of December 2017 all PRINCE2 courses offered by the GTA run off the 2017 syllabus. PRINCE2® 2017 is the method used for planning and managing projects in the public and private sectors. The PRINCE2 Foundation 2017 method is used for a wide variety and size of projects. PRINCE2® is universally accepted as best practice project management.

The course consists of a mixture of input and practical sessions, delivered by an APM Group approved trainer with practical experience of project management.

Pre-Course Work: SPOCE's online event preparation is available to everyone attending this event. Delegates should spend approximately 5-10 hours studying the pre-course material in order to be well prepared for the course.

Structured Approach to Managing Projects - Setting the scene for a structured approach to managing all projects; project success criteria; the model of the PRINCE2 method including the integrated elements of principles, processes, themes and tailoring.

The Process-based Approach - PRINCE2 focuses on key processes needed for successful project management which must be present, but may be ‘tailored’ to reflect the complexity, scope and risks faced by the project. SPOCE’s PRINCE2 Process Model will be used to help delegates understand and appreciate what should be done to manage each project, why it should be done and when in the project lifecycle.

Due to the intense nature of this Prince2 foundation course, delegates should plan to commit approximately 1 hour each evening during the course for study and review.


From date of acknowledgement by the GTA, the cancellation charges are:-

* More than 28 days of the course start date: No Charge
* 14-28 days of the course start date: 20% of the full fees.
* 7-14 days of the course start date: 50% of the full fees.
* Within 7 days of the course start date: 100% of the full fees.
