PRINCE2/Practitioner Upgrade

Course Summary

PRINCE2® 2017 is the method used for planning and managing projects in the public and private sectors. The PRINCE2 Foundation 2017 method is used for a wide variety and size of projects. PRINCE2® is universally accepted as best practice project management.

The two-day Practitioner course is aimed that those requiring a controlled approach to managing projects. During the first day, delegates will consolidate PRINCE2® methodology and will prepare for the Practitioner exam. The Practitioner exam is taken on the morning of the second day.

The course consists of a mixture of input and practical sessions, delivered by an APM Group approved trainer with practical experience of project management.

The syllabus for PRINCE2® was updated in 2017, this was the first major update to PRINCE2 since 2009. As of December 2017 all PRINCE2 courses offered by the GTA will run off the 2017 syllabus. Introduction

This course is aimed at project managers, team managers, project support and assurance staff, and managers from any discipline, and is particularly aimed at people who are responsible for managing projects.

This course consist of a mixture of input and practical sessions, delivered by an APM Group approved trainer with practical experience of project management.

Pre-Course Work: A pre-event preparation pack including the PRINCE2® manual and specially written software will be sent to everyone attending this event. Delegates should spend between 10-20 hours studying this structured pre-course material in order to be well prepared for both the course and exam.

This two-day course covers the PRINCE2 Practitioner syllabus, including the following topics:

Structured Approach to Managing Projects - Setting the scene for a structured approach to managing all projects; project success criteria; the model of the PRINCE2 method including the integrated elements of principles, processes, themes and tailoring.

The Process-based Approach - PRINCE2 focuses on key processes needed for successful project management which must be present, but may be ‘tailored’ to reflect the complexity, scope and risks faced by the project.

SPOCE’s PRINCE2 Process Model will be used to help delegates understand and appreciate what should be done to manage each project, why it should be done and when in the project lifecycle.

Due to the intense nature of this Prince2 Practitioner course, delegates should plan to commit approximately 1 hour the evening of the first day of the course for study and review.

Cancellation

From date of acknowledgement by the GTA, the cancellation charges are:-

* More than 28 days of the course start date: No Charge

* 14-28 days of the course start date: 20% of the full fees.

* 7-14 days of the course start date: 50% of the full fees.

* Within 7 days of the course start date: 100% of the full fees.
